After picking out a products packaging, we had to redesign the packaging. I picked Yorkshire Gold because I thought it should move toward modern than the England country side. The building on the new packaging is a well known buildings in Yorkshire and I wanted to play of off the gold in their name. After making the new packaging we where assigned with making an ad for the product.
For this project, we were given a specific typeface and given the task of creating a poster based around our assigned font. We were told to include every letter of the alphabet, numbers and symbols. The typeface I was given was Avant Garde created by Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase. I took the exaggerated angels and created an abstract layout that I though helped capture the font within the design of my poster.
We had to develop new branding for Rescue Village (Geauga Humane Society). They wanted this new logo to reach people of all ages by modernizing it. But requested the new brand to work well across different platforms.
On this project, we were requested to make a new poster for the Cleveland International Film Festival. I wanted to play off of the idea that before we had motion pictures we had stills. They were kept in canisters just like the ones shown on my poster. Also, the film festival is known for how many countries participate. I wanted to incorporate every country in the poster so I made canisters, each with the name and silhouette of the country.
My goal for this assignment was to make an infographic that showed the percentage of what was in a stuffed crust pizza. Instead of having a ton of words I took a picture of all the ingredients as a pie chart. A pie chart does the best at showing the viewer the percentage without having them read the words.
We were given the task of recreating a Cub Scout ad that would capture an adult’s eye for more than a few seconds. I thought if I found a way to make the ad interactive within the design, parents would feel more inclined to give it to their children and would spend more time looking at it.
